Synopsis Of Episode:
In Part 2, the Apollo program experienced its first major disaster. During a routine ground test of the Apollo capsules ability to function independently, the vehicle caught fire and three astronauts inside testing it all died. Investigations began, and NASA was faced with a lot of finger-pointing and loss of morale. Jo plays Pat White, the wife of Ed White, one of the astronauts who died in the fire. She has to be told of his death.
In Part 11, the stories of all the wives of the "second nine astronauts" are told. Marilyn Lovell, the wife of Jim, has problems with her husband being away from home so often. Jim misses large parts of his family's life. Pat White, again played by Jo, also has problems being an astronaut's wife. When she finds out her husband was killed, she experiences major depression. Susan Borman, the wife of Frank, becomes an alcoholic because of her experiences. This part shows how difficult the lives of these wives were.
